Five killed, 10 injured in Sindhupalchok jeep accident

Five passengers were killed and 10 others injured in an accident involving a passenger jeep at Fyafulla Danda of Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchok district.

The accident took place when a Bolero jeep (Lu 1 Cha 999), en route to Bhotang from Melamchi, all of a sudden stopped and fell some 400 metres down the road on late Thursday evening.

According to the police, of the deceased Bhim Bahadur Tamang, 75, Jayrami Tamang, 55 and Nani Tamang, 53, died on the spot. While, Bidhom Tamang, 56 and Sun Maya Tamang, 25, died while being taken to a medical facility for treatment.

Area Police Office, Melamchi Inspector Parshuram Malla informed that a night vision helicopter was sent for the rescue but it had to return back due to bad weather and the local officials had to transport the injured via roadways to Maharajgunj, Kathmandu-based Teaching Hospital.

“The injured reached Mahrajgun-based Teaching Hospital at around 2am for treatment,” said Inspector Malla, “A night vision helicopter sent for the rescue had to return back due to bad weather.”
